Give Air Filters New Life With Dry Cleaning Systems

Machines may last for years but their components wear out faster. Replacement is the standard fix but did you know you can get old parts looking and working like new through dry cleaning? Common components like air filters stand to benefit much because they're typically discarded once they've developed rust and gathered dirt.

It's true, new components work perfectly and in the event that cleaning can't help or in cases where they've become too worn out, replacement is the only answer. However, more times than most, a simple dry cleaning job can restore them close to 100 percent functionality, saving you cash and keeping landfills a little freer of trash.

So how does dry cleaning work? And is it better than traditional wet cleaning?

Dry cleaning differs from conventional fabric dry cleaning in that it doesn't use chemicals which makes it a totally dry process. It relies instead on vibrations, vacuum and compressed air. The vibrations dislodge dirt, rust and corrosion similar to ultrasonic cleaning (but also without the use of water) while compressed air and vacuum extract particulates.

As for the question of how the process stacks up against wet cleaning, dry cleaning doesn't reduce the quality and efficiency of air filters. Granted, wet cleaning has many perks such as removing contaminants completely and keeping surfaces extremely clean with the help of water. However, it's a proven fact that it significantly reduces air filter integrity so reuse is a problem. Moreover, wet cleaning requires copious amounts of water which is scare as we all know.

But perhaps the biggest benefit dry cleaning boasts is the lack of waste generated. Water and chemicals aren't used so there's no question of having to dispose waste. Plus, the fact that the cleaned filters can be used without a hitch means landfill waste is not added to.
